Why Networking Still Matters: Building Careers, Businesses and Lasting Relationships
At Contract Personnel, recruitment has always been about people. While CVs, interviews and job adverts all play an important role, some of the best opportunities begin with something much simpler – a conversation.
That’s why we’re passionate about supporting networking events across Norfolk and Suffolk, helping employers, candidates and professionals build meaningful relationships that can lead to new careers, partnerships and opportunities.
Joe Randlesome Speaking at Norfolk Chamber Networking Event
We’re delighted to announce that our Marketing Manager, Joe Randlesome, will be a guest speaker at an upcoming networking event hosted by the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce at Wymondham Rugby Football Club.
Taking place on Thursday 13th August from 8:00am to 10:00am, the free event will bring together businesses from across Norfolk for a relaxed morning of networking, learning and collaboration.
Joe’s presentation will explore how his very first job laid the foundations for a career in recruitment, marketing and relationship building. Sharing personal stories and practical advice, he’ll explain why networking remains one of the most valuable business skills, how genuine relationships can create unexpected opportunities, and why saying “yes” to new experiences can shape your career. Those who know Joe will also know to expect plenty of humour along the way.
Networking Benefits Employers Too
For businesses, networking is far more than swapping business cards.
It provides the opportunity to:
- Build trusted relationships with local organisations.
- Learn from other business leaders and industry experts.
- Discover new recruitment solutions and workforce trends.
- Generate referrals and business opportunities.
- Strengthen your reputation within the local business community.
At Contract Personnel, many of our strongest client relationships have started through conversations at networking events before developing into long-term recruitment partnerships.
Why Candidates Should Network
Networking isn’t just for business owners.
Whether you’re actively looking for work or simply thinking about your next career move, expanding your professional network can help you:
- Discover opportunities before they’re advertised.
- Meet employers face-to-face.
- Gain careers advice and industry insight.
- Build confidence and communication skills.
- Increase your visibility within your chosen sector.
Recruitment is built on relationships, and often it’s the people you meet, not just the jobs you apply for, that can make the biggest difference to your career.
Another Opportunity to Get Involved
Joe is also hosting his popular ‘Give it a Go’ Networking event later that morning at Yalm Foodhall in Norwich.
Running from 10:30am until 12:30pm, this informal session combines networking with shuffleboard and darts, creating a relaxed environment where local professionals can make new connections without the pressure often associated with traditional networking events.
Tickets are free, with attendees having the option to make a donation to the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation during registration.
Supporting Norfolk’s Business Community
At Contract Personnel, we’re proud to support events that bring people together. Recruitment isn’t simply about filling vacancies – it’s about creating connections that help individuals, businesses and communities thrive.
Whether you’re looking to recruit your next employee, searching for your next career opportunity or simply wanting to grow your professional network, networking events provide an excellent place to start.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new people and continuing to strengthen relationships across Norfolk and Suffolk.
