We caught up with Lisa Hollis, our Permanent Recruitment Consultant, to get some advice on interview techniques, research and more! When preparing for an interview, thorough preparation is key to success.

Lisa says:

🔎 Do your research: Dive deep into the company’s background before your interview. Review the company website, LinkedIn and other social media profiles, any news articles and awards/nominations received, to give yourself a better feel for the company you’re applying to.
👌 Understand the role: Familiarise yourself with the job description and match your skills accordingly.
👂 Practice your answers: Google some common interview questions and prepare some responses to showcase your expertise.
👔 Dress appropriately: Choose appropriate attire that reflects the company’s culture and professional standards. If you’re uncertain, always go with “smart-casual”.
🚗 Plan your journey: Make sure you know the interview location and arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than expected, so that you have time to relax and gather your thoughts.
💳 Bring necessary documents: Have a copy of your CV, references, and any requested documents ready, like your passport or National Insurance number.
❓ Always prepare questions: To show your genuine interest in working for the company, ask thoughtful questions about the role, the company and any recent accolades.
📜 Know your CV: Always be prepared to discuss any aspect of your CV in more detail.
😄 Stay positive: Demonstrating a positive outlook throughout the interview will leave a lasting impression.
