Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Electrially Bias

Contract Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, valued and trusted supplier of packaging materials here in Norfolk. Due to continued growth our client is looking to recruit an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintencance Engineer to join their team on the outskirts of Norwich.
This role encompasses maintaining machines (responsible for maintaining Uteco printing presses and Hudson Sharp Conversion machines) and the plant buildings themselves, so there is a lot of technical and detailed work that needs to be done to the highest standard.

Principal Accountabilities:
Role Responsibilities
- Undertake repairs as requested by Senior Maintenance Engineer, and/or Shift Leads whilst responding to breakdowns within a reasonable timescale of the notification.
- Monitor Shoplogix for potential faults and breakdown times.
- Monitor and control quality, ensuring that any defect product is highlighted to Senior Maintenance Engineer, divisional manager, or a Team Leader and that it is removed, replaced or repaired and recorded correctly.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance tasks as per the maintenance schedule.
- Identify potential improvements to equipment and communicate these to the relevant persons.
- Create an accurate record of completed work with details of parts used, maintaining the housekeeping and hygiene standards set by the Company, and ensuring that all paperwork is completed.
- Ensure the security of all tools and equipment.
- Ensure effective shift change-over is carried out thoroughly.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover where possible.
- Create good working relationships with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders including suppliers and 3rd party engineers.
- Provide up-to-date accurate stock figures and other progress information as required.
- Contribute towards improving production standards by highlighting issues and offering solutions.
- Completion of duties in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, making recommendations for improvement through Health & Safety Representative as appropriate.
- Completion of ad-hoc duties to meet the needs of the business, subject to appropriate training.
- Constantly review standards and working practices to achieve and exceed targets.
- Pre-empt issues through effective communication.
General Responsibilities:
- To carry out all work in a safe and efficient manner as per the Coveris health and Safety policy and statutory standards.
- Prioritise workload in line with production requirements to ensure agreed timescales and deadlines are met.
- Communicate with relevant parties the status of any ongoing work.
- Assist with training of apprentices and other engineering personnel as required.
- Undertake specialised training when required.
- Completion of ad-hoc duties to meet the needs of the business, subject to appropriate training.
- Have clear understanding of the Company / Staff Handbook.
Demonstrate Technical Knowledge:
- Must be able to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Must be able to identify and diagnose faults.
- Must have a working knowledge of AC and DC drives, PLC’s, motors, single and 3 phase systems.
- Must understand the basics in all major printing and conversion processes.
- Understand SOPs and suggest improvements where applicable.
- Demonstrate an active engagement whilst constantly looking for ways to improve the processes to drive commercial benefit.

Experience:
- A good understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations.
- Experience in process control, Siemens, GE Fanuc, B & R PLC control is essential.
- A good working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Basic understanding of plumbing and carpentry.
- Be able to fault find under pressure in a dynamic and fast moving industry.
- Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance and record keeping.
- Have experience of BRC standards for the food industry is desirable.
- Experience of flexographic printing presses, conversion and ancillary equipment is desirable.
- Ability to multi-skill between electrical and mechanical tasks
- Good attendance and time keeping.
- Good organisational and self-motivational skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
- Knowledge of Shoploxics and Microsoft Office packages would be an advantage, especially with Excel & Word.
- You will need to produce certification to evidence your literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- You will need to evidence you are eligible to work in the UK.
- You will need to be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Qualifications:
- C&G Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation or City & Guilds electrical installation 2360 (parts 1 & 2), or equivalent.
- 17th/18th edition IEE wiring regulations BS 7571
- GCSE level mathematics and English are essential.
Shifts will be offered as the following:
10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Monday to Friday
Cover will be needed on some weekends
