Contract Personnel are actively recruiting on behalf of our highly established plastic manufacturing client who operates in more than 300 facilities around the globe!
Job Title – Automation Engineer
Yearly Salary – £40,000
Location – Beccles, Suffolk
Hours – Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30
Job Purpose;
• Role requires an enthusiastic engineer to work in a dedicated role of automation including all aspects of maintenance, preventive maintenance programs and breakdowns, and a supporting role with C.I. projects and refurbishment as required where machine safety systems are correct for the environment and safe working practices are paramount
Duties and Responsibilities;
• Modernising PLC platforms and integrated control systems with a demonstrable ability to problem solve and write code
• Integration of technology within new and existing systems including process control, end-of-line automation, data acquisition, vision and validation systems
• Reading and updating Schematics and Documentation
• Design Contribution, Delivery & Commissioning of manufacturing capability
• Automation & Electrical Obsolescence mitigation
• Proactively implementing sustainable ways of working to ensure asset capability, availability and performance
• Keeping up to date with the latest automation and systems technology
• Identifying opportunities to optimise and improve through the adoption and integration of automation
• Working with project teams and OEMs to influence design improvement
• Work to set a program of preventative and autonomous maintenanc
• Reactive to breakdowns as required by shift team leader
• Communicating all relevant information to the engineering team leaders and engineering manager
• Any other tasks requested to aid the efficient running of the engineering environment
Skill & experience required (or equivalent qualifiers);
• Experience of production equipment including maintenance and refurbishment.
• Comprehensive understanding of production lines & packaging systems gained from working directly in an automated environment
• Strong Mechanical & Electrical ability and experience, ideally certified to HNC engineering or equivalent
• Working knowledge of machinery safety regulations & legislation
• Highly computer literate / Excel / Word / PowerPoint
• Experience working on Inverters / Servo Drives / HMI panels
• Proven knowledge of Lean Tools & Techniques to drive best in class performance
