Contract Personnel Supports Future Careers at City Academy Norwich

Contract Personnel recently had the pleasure of visiting City Academy Norwich to deliver a careers and employability workshop for Year 10 students.

The session was led by Marketing Manager Joe Randlesome and covered a range of topics designed to help students prepare for the world of work, including career pathways, employability skills, interview preparation, and building confidence when speaking with employers.

A key focus of the workshop was interview skills.

Students were encouraged to think beyond simply answering questions and consider how asking thoughtful questions can help them stand out from other candidates.

“One of the biggest mistakes candidates make is saying they don’t have any questions at the end of an interview,” said Joe. “Asking questions shows interest, preparation and confidence, while also helping candidates understand whether the role is right for them.”

Following the workshop, Contract Personnel engaged with employers and professionals across its network to gather their top interview tips. Common advice included researching the company beforehand, preparing questions in advance, taking notes during interviews and remembering that interviews are a two-way conversation.

One standout example came from a hiring manager who highlighted the question:

“If I’m successful, what would you like to see me achieve in the first three months?”

as one of the most impressive questions a candidate had ever asked.
